2 cups masa harina
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups warm water or milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup raisins or chopped dried fruit
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
12–15 dried corn husks, soaked in warm water
Instructions
Soak corn husks in warm water for 30 minutes.
Mix masa harina, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Beat butter until fluffy, then gradually add masa mixture and warm liquid.
Stir in vanilla, raisins, and nuts to form a soft dough.
Drain corn husks and pat dry.
Spread 2-3 tbsp of dough on each husk and fold to enclose.
Steam tamales for 60 minutes until firm.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use ripe plantains or cinnamon for extra flavor.
If dough sticks to husks, add more masa or liquid.
Store leftovers wrapped in the fridge for up to 5 days.
