1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Red and black food coloring (gel-based)
1 cup dark chocolate ganache
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
Divide batter into two portions. Dye one portion deep red and the other black.
Layer the batters in the pan and swirl lightly with a knife.
Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack.
Once cooled, coat with dark chocolate ganache for a glossy poisoned effect.
Notes
Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
For extra drama, drizzle edible silver or add a fake ‘poison’ label.
