Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs beef short ribs (flanken cut)
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp honey
1/4 cup rice wine (or mirin)
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 Asian pear (grated)
1 small onion (grated)
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tsp ginger (grated)
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
2 green onions (chopped)
1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
Rinse the short ribs and pat them dry.
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice wine, sesame oil, grated pear, onion, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
Place the ribs in a large ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Grill the ribs for 2-3 minutes per side until caramelized and cooked through.
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
For extra tenderness, marinate the ribs overnight.
If grilling isn’t an option, broil in the oven for 3-4 minutes per side.
Serve with steamed rice and kimchi for a complete meal.
