  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, lasagna noodles, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the noodles are tender.
  5. Stir in the ricotta cheese until well combined.
  6. Serve hot, topped with shredded mozzarella cheese and fresh basil.
