A flaky pastry filled with sweet strawberry jam and topped with a light glaze.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut cold butter into flour mixture until crumbly.
  3. Gradually add cold water until dough forms.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  5. Spread strawberry jam evenly over half of the dough.
  6. Fold the other half over the jam and seal edges.
  7. Cut into squares or triangles.
  8. Brush with beaten egg.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk for glaze, drizzle over cooled pastries.
